Can't find what you are looking for? Tell our Chiang Mai experts in what you are interested in and we will add it to our Chiang Mai Activities. Experience Chiang Mai's favorite sights as others see them. Let our visual picture tour of Chiang Mai help you choose the best places to visit in Chiang Mai:
Local SportsHead to the Gymkhana Club for a variety of sport facilities that includes squash, golf, tennis, and even cricket. Yes, you heard right, there's cricket. In fact it's a major event in the city, and they have the Chiang Mai International Cricket 6's held in April every year when world cricket comes to this little city. Well, you learn something new everyday. For a good round of bowling, head for the Bully Bowl in Kad Suan Keaw or the UFO Bowling on Nong Hoi intersection. If you believe you're a hot shot with a pistol you should definitely swagger into the 33rd Army base on the Irrigation Canal Rd, and in the event you're not as good as you thought you were, you can get instruction for a price. At the Sports Complex built to celebrate the 700th birthday of the city, you have everything that would send a sports aficionado's heart racing. There's swimming, tennis, basket ball, volley ball, and even shooting. A fitness centre with all that you could wish for, plus a sauna and daily aerobic dance classes are just what you need to keep you looking good. Chiang Mai FootballKids play it, elephants play it, and so do various clubs of locals and expatriates. Though not in the international scheme of things, Chiang Mai has excellent grounds and facilities and the game is played and appreciated with a passion. You can always join in if a game's going on and they need members to make up a team. Chiang Mai Fitness CentresMost hotels have great fitness centres and usually guests can just saunter in and help themselves. If for some reason you're not happy with that, you can find any number around the city. The Gymkhana Club and the National Stadium have facilities that won't disappoint. Jogging parks such as Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens, Huay Kaew Arboretum, and Huay Tueng Thao provide excellent tracks amid scenic splendour. Chiang Mai GolfBeing a city blessed with hills and valley and forests and rivers, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to note the abundance of spectacular golf courses. The Chiang Mai Golf Driving Range on Airport Rd. the Green Valley Golf & Country Club on Chiang Mai-Mae Rim Rd, the Chiang Mai Lamphun Golf Club and the Gymkhana Club on Lamphun Rd, are just a few of a much longer list. You can get all the information you need from your hotel reception. Chiang Mai SwimmingThe Sports Complex has an excellent pool with diving board and instructors for any level, should you need one. The only hitch being that it is closed on Mondays. Other than that, it is daily open from 9-12 and 1-6 daily. The Sarah Health Club is another place where you can splash around and this is located across the British Consulate in the city. All this only becomes necessary if your hotel doesn't have a pool which is highly unlikely. Chiang Mai TennisEnjoy a great game of tennis at the National Stadium in Chiang Mai. Don't be put off if you are alone; you can engage knockers to give you a good game. Besides this, you could also try the Lanna Sports Club on Chotana Rd, the Anantasiri Court on the Chiang Mai-Lampang Super Highway, the Chiang Mai Sports Club, and the Gymkhana Club on Rat Uthit Rd. Some hotels and resorts such as the Amari Rincome Hotel on Nimmanhemin Rd and Palm Springs on Mahidol Rd have their own tennis courts.
