Me and my boyfriend were supposed to be staying at the Julie guest house but it was horrible so whilst out trying to find somewhere else a friendly local recommended the Lai Thai. This guesthouse is in a great location, has a swimming pool, and the maid services were excellent, the rooms were always clean and tidy when we arrived back after a long day sightseeing. The food and tour service are not brilliant but you are so close to many restaurants and tour operators this really did not affect us.

its very cheep we had a resrvation on the net, but still the service and the rooms and the beds!!!
my back is still in pain 3 months later!
the great pluse is that is very close to the weekend markets (sat,sun)you can walk there. the coffee stand next to the guesthouse has the best coffee in Chiang Mai and the pool is a great place to stay in when its hot. and its hot there!

My wife and I have visited the Lai Thai Guesthouse four separate times over the last six years. The rooms are very clean, the decor is lauhala, bamboo, grass shack feeling, fan and air conditioning. A little too much chlorine in the swimming pool, cleaned nightly. Great service, great staff, (If you are patient, you will get great service) If you are a fussy person, go to a pricey hotel! Be nice to all staff, you will be treated perfectly. Get to know all taxi/tuk tuk drivers. Bring pictures or addresses to the location desired (In Thai language available at front desk). Centrally located to everything (Shopping, go-kart, ice-skating, sizzler, elephant rides, river rafting on bamboo rafts, waterfalls, long-neck villages, etc.) Restaurant with full menu downstairs. Close to the airport. Very comfortable and relaxing.
